I didn’t want to hesitate if Ahn Jaehong’s Mask Girl was a retired movie
Actor Ahn Jae-hong once again broke his life character. Following “Foot volleyball king” Hong Man-seop and “Reply 1988” Jung Bong, he transformed into Joo Oh-nam, the OTT platform Netflix series “Mask Girl,” and will have a great acting battle. It was such an unconventional challenge that some jokingly said, “Is it a retirement work?”
“I didn’t want to hesitate when I got an offer to appear. Joo Oh-nam is an unconventional and difficult-to-reach character, but it became simple when I thought, “What is my goal as an actor?” I wanted to act well and become a good actor, so I chose it without hesitation. Acting made me feel like I’ve traveled to a place I’ve never been to. So I gained confidence that I could travel further. It was a proud work.”
In a recent interview with Sports Kyunghyang, Ahn Jae-hong calmly answered a lot of questions such as how he felt and how he made a character as a “mask girl,” and how he worked with Yeom Hye-ran.
In the drama, Joo Oh-nam is the only branded man who watches BJ Mask Girl’s broadcast while being disconnected from the world. Later, he knew the identity of “Kim Mo-mi” (Lee Han-byul) and became obsessed with him.
“I gained 10kg for this role. It wasn’t hard to gain weight at all. Haha. In order to make his body shape stand out more, I added extra flesh as a special makeup. I thought I should approach the viewers as a strange and alien person. At the same time, I wanted to show you the sad and deep story of a man who was slightly off course from the start. I wanted to express it in depth while looking into a very dark place.”
The scene of Joo Oh-nam confessing to Kim Mo-mi became a hot topic. Among them, “I love Momi.” The line ‘iCitero’ is gaining huge popularity to the point where a meme 대전호빠
“It’s a line that wasn’t originally in the script. In the original webtoon, there was a scene where Zhuonam muttered Japanese, and it was very cool and impressive. So I suggested to the director that we should do this, and he said it was a good idea. When I was rehearsing before the shoot, I was thinking about “What would Juonam say if he confessed?” and I said “Icitero,” but the director was embarrassed at the momentarily. If that line goes in, he’s worried that he’ll get caught too quickly that this scene is Joohnam’s delusion. But when I thought about it, he said, “Joo Oh-nam is a person who is a mixture of imagination and reality anyway, so I could film it as it is.”
Thanks to the sparkling idea, “Juonam” has emerged as a shining character in “Mask Girl.” Viewers who watched the series also received favorable reviews. Close actors also expressed their opinions full of laughter. The comment that Kim Eui-sung left, “It was dirty and good,” received so much attention that there was even an article.
“It was a really big compliment. Thank you for your support for my unique character. Director Jang Hang-joon also called a few days after seeing the work. “Jaehong, I think I’m getting more calls than you said. They congratulated me a lot, maybe because I was with my previous work, “Rebound.”
