Twitter Acquisition Elon Musk “Birds is Free”
“The bird is free.”“
Tesla CEO Elon Musk made the remarks on his Twitter account shortly after major foreign media reports that a $44 billion acquisition contract was signed on the 28th (local time). It directly suggests that the acquisition of Twitter has been completed.
Since the night of the 27th, the Financial Times (FT) and CNBC have reported that CEO Musk has secured Twitter management rights, citing officials. According to Bloomberg, Musk is expected to take the position of Twitter CEO himself. As a result, Musk will concurrently serve as CEO of Tesla, Twitter, and SpaceX. Current Twitter CEO Farag Agrawal and Chief Financial Officer (CEO) Ned Segal left the company on the same day. Immediately after securing management rights, executives began to change.
Earlier, Musk said he would take over again when Twitter sued him for violating the contract while trying to withdraw from the acquisition because he had many fake accounts. The court ordered the acquisition to be completed by 5 p.m. on the 28th.
Musk’s use of the expression that his Twitter account is “Free” seems to indicate that he will ease Twitter’s policy of suspending accounts. Until now, Musk has criticized Twitter for limiting freedom of expression by deleting accounts that violate “political correctness.” Bloomberg reported that Musk is expected to revive the account of former President Donald Trump, who was permanently suspended.
