On the 12th (local time), 382 days after the outbreak of the Ukrainian war, Russian troops also shelled nearby eastern cities as a battle continued in Bachmut, the biggest battleground.

According to CNN and other foreign media, the Ukrainian military said that Russian troops are continuing to attack the eastern Bahmut. Russian troops also attacked the city of Slovyansk, northwest of Bachmut.

“During the day, Russian troops shelled a civilian infrastructure in Slovyansk, Donetsk, four air strikes on the city and 20 attacks with the Multi-Rocket Launch System (MLRS),” a Ukrainian military official said.

Slovyansk is one of the cities mentioned by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Russia’s next goal if Bachmut falls.

Intense fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces continues in Bachmut.

Yevgeny Prigozin, head of Russian mercenary company Wagner Group, said in a social media video that “the situation in Bahmut is very difficult,” adding, “We are fighting Ukraini-an troops every meter.” “The closer we get to the city center, the fiercer the battle is,” he said.

The U.S. think tank War Research Institute (ISW) said the Russian military is continuing to attack the Wagner group, but it has not achieved any results.

“Although fierce fighting is reported in the city, Wagner Group mercenaries are increasingly likely to be trapped in the city and therefore find it difficult to make significant progress,” ISW said in a report.

The Ukrainian military said the situation is difficult, but it is possible to evacuate the injured and supply ammunition.
